Shore Excursions

Mahon Shore Excursion: Mahon is the capital city of the island Menorca and has the second deepest natural harbour in the world. Though is a small island, is funny how it always captured the attention of the most powerful empires throughout history. Mahon was under the reign of the Romans, the Moors, the British, the French and obviously the Spanish. If you’re visiting Spain for the first time as part of this shore excursion in Mahon, be careful: this is a country that fast becomes an addiction.

The port of Mahon is one of the largest natural port of Europe. For its strategic location in the center of the Mediterranean sea, this port was historically the gateway to many civilizations. From the port by bus we will reach the archaeological site of Torralba, and from there will begin our shore excursion. We will continue coming to visit Monte Toro, the highest of the island, where you can enjoy a wonderful view, and then we will continue to Ciutadella. Ciutadella was the old capital of the island of Menorca, before British occupiers transferred the Capital into the town of Mahon. Now Ciutadella is considered as the religious center of the island as well as being home to the Cathedral, built in the fourteenth century by King Alfonso III. In the old town you can see major religious buildings, such as the Cloister of the Soccorso’s Church  or the Convent of Santa Clara. After that we'll finish our shore excursion we'll return to the port and boarding.
